Julia Wilson-James Soprano
Julia was born in Ilford, Essex. She studied at The Royal Academy of Music with Patricia Clark and Clara Taylor, where she won several prizes including 'The Benjamin Britten Prize' and a St. Marylebone Trust Scholarship. She now studies with Patrizia Kwella, and performs regularly with the BBC Singers, Nicholas Kraemer, Richard Hickox, Simon Rattle, The King's Concort, Richard Cooke, Roger Norrington, The Age of Enlightenment, John Rutter's Cambridge Singers and the Monteverdi Choir. She has sung Mozart's Requiem and Coronation Mass on tour with the Israel Chamber Orchestra, and Fauvre's Requiem and Bach's Magnificat in Norway with the Norwegian Soloists Choir to high critical acclaim. She returned to Israel where she was invited to sing the Bach B Minor Mass with Nicholas Kramer, a 'magical' performance which received outstanding reviews. In the UK other recent oratorio performances include Mozart's C Minor Mass in St. Martin in the Fields, Bach's St. John Passion in Norwich Cathedral and Vivaldi's Gloria in The Purcell Room, Rutter's Magnificat in Brentwood Cathedral, Verdi's Requiem in Thaxted Church, Poulenc's Gloria in Orpington, Orff's Carmina Burana at Eastbourne, Handel's Dixit Dominus at Oxford and with the Ilford Choral Society, Lloyd Webber's Requiem, Bach's Cantana No 68, Mozart's Requiem and Poulenc's Gloria. Julia also sang Verdi's Requiem in Brentwood Cathedral. Most recently Julia has worked with the London Opera Chorus in Lyon and Vienna and is rapidly gaining recognition as a recitalist of English, French and German song.
